16 Jun 2008 - Gay Anglican 'Marriage' furore
Here we go again! It's silly season in the press, and the Anglican Communion globally just provided a new source of feed to the journos!
Rev Dr Martin Martin Dudley has been 'outed' for having presided at the blessing of two CofE Clergy's civil partnership.
Rev Cowell and Rev Dr Lord met, fell in love, found a desire to make their relationship 'legal' in the eyes of the State, but dared to want God's blessing on it as well.
SHOCK HORROR! Quick find a burning torach and pillory another cleric who had the balls to conduct the ceremony.
You know what, I don't give a flying monkey's cuss what the content of the service was, nor where it was held. I don't care who wore what, how many people attended, nor which one of the ludicrously outdated and immoral rules of the Communion were broken, bent or tweaked in having the ceremony take place.
What I do care passionately about though, is that Dr Dudley is being pilloried for having fulfilled his duties as a compassionate, caring and loving priest (heterosexual by his own admission by the way) in adhering to the Great Commandments of Christ (remember him? Sandals, white dhoti, cross, blood, redemption, Saviour etc) Jesus himself in showing unconditional support and love for two deeply committed Christian people who wanted nothing more than God to bless them.
Whilst the stuffed shirts of the Communion may bleat and blather on about dogmas, doctrine, rubric and Creed (all of which have their place and importance in context), I wonder how many of them can stand before the Throne of Grace and state emphatically that they have done all within their abilities to bring people together and bring people to God.
Dr Dudley should stand proud in his deliberations and desire to fulfill his ministry.
