18 Sep 2008 - The Sad Death of The Very Rev Fr Raphael Norman
It is with immense regret that I have to announce that, at 4-30am BST on Thursday 18th September 2008, our dearly loved friend and brother The Very Rev Fr Raphael Norman, Celtic Orthodox Arch Priest, passed to the Higher Service in the Intensive Care Unit of the Royal Bournemouth Hospital, following serious complication from his open heart surgery three weeks ago.
Fr had suffered 7 serious strokes during the surgery yet had shown encouraging and promising signs of recovering from them in the past 3 weeks. However, during the night he developed a virilant pneumonia and, despite emergency surgery and intervention earlier this morning, gave up the fight at half past four.
The Very Rev Fr Raphael Norman, was a very dear Friend if The ICSJ and will be greatly missed by us all within the community. We pass our thoughts and prayers to his family and indeed the members of his church community at this sad time.
We do not have the details of the funeral as of yet but will update the website with information as it comes.
Bishop Barry said a Requiem for his dear friend and colleague in his private chapel, and is in regular contact with Fr Raphael's congregation and family during this sad time.
